How did this start? Years
ago I put 20 cents into one of those bubble gum novelty machines and
out came a small plastic badge in the shape
of a heart with '365 Happy
Days' on it.
As with most bubble gum novelty badges it wasn't long before the pin fell off and the heart was lost. I still remember it though and thought about it at an art opening in April, 2007. I left the opening with the feeling that something was wrong... and this project was born. Each day I draw a page, charting my course through the year graphically and uploading the weeks pages on each Friday. It should prove interesting, there will be days when drawing doesn't work, days when I am bleak and days when the world is my oyster bar. 365 Happy Days is my most adventurous book yet. Yep, it's a blog, well kind of a blog it's more an artists book that is documented weekly on this site. |

| back to FAQs How are the pictures made? The pictures are digitally drawn using a Wacom tablet and a computer program called Corel Painter, so what you see on the site are screen resolution versions of the images. The pictures though are made at print resolution and are then printed using a pigment printer onto Arches 240gsm paper. Epson guarantees that they wont fade, even in direct light, for 70 years. |

Where do you get the ideas from? Whatever really takes my fancy on the day. There are a couple of rules though. No politics or world events ... beyond the weather... Generally I carry a small Spirax notebook and by midnight of each day I've decided the pic. Either I set to work on the computer then or it happens the next morning. Often I don't even know what they're about for sure, so don't feel left out if they seem a little off centre. |

to FAQs How can I help? This is a much bigger project than I first anticipated. I'm completely committed to seeing it through though, so the only way to make it worthwhile is also to make it successful.
